At MSESC we use an individual approach to explicit instruction in Mathematics. At MSESC we profile every single student according to their specific skills, abilities and mathematical understandings. Individual student profiles are used by all MSESC teachers as a means of collecting valuable information about students in each class. This information is used to help guide lesson planning and delivery to best fit our individual students; whether it be to provide individual programs to cater for specific learning needs, meaningful groupings based on student’s level of skills, knowledge and understandings, or to guide differentiation.
MSESC uses the Targeting Mathsresources provided by Pascal Press. These resources cater for students working at Foundation level through to year 6. In addition to this resource, teachers at MSESC also utilise the Abilities Based Learning Education – Western Australia (ABLEWA) to support students who are working at a pre-foundation level in Mathematics.
