At Meadow Springs PS we enjoy building relationships with our local Indigenous community by connecting with our Elders at Winjan. We celebrate NAIDOC Week by holding a Smoking Ceremony and participating in Indigenous dancing and singing, as well as story telling about the Stolen Generation. All student councillors practise and learn the Acknowledgement to Country which is recited at our assembly.
Indigenous and non-indigenous students work with Mandurah Council and a local Indigenous artist to create a mural representing MSPS’s Indigenous emblem: The Yonga. Work on a Bush Tucker garden and yarning circle for everyone to enjoy will begin soon.
