Physical Education at Meadow Springs Primary encompasses a weekly 55 minute Physical Education lesson, Year 5-6 Block sport on Friday afternoons, daily fitness, in-term swimming lessons and a range of both school and interschool sports carnivals.
We hold a school swimming carnival every year in Term 1 for students in Years 3 to 6. When all the freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke races are completed we finish the day with some fun relays. The school cross country is a whole school event that takes place in Term 2. Qualifying students represent our school at the interschool cross country in Term 3. The biggest event of the year – the Faction Athletics Carnival – is a fun-filled community event with students and parents dressed up in their faction colours. The interschool athletics carnival takes place every year in Term 4 and is hosted by Coastal Lakes High School.
Students also have the opportunity to represent the school in Netball, AFL, Soccer, Volleyball, Tee-Ball, Rugby, Basketball and Cricket. Our interschool sports network comprises of four schools and is expected to grow to eight schools within the next five years. The network teachers meet each month to ensure that our programs are optimised for maximal student participation and enjoyment.
The Physical Education Program at Meadow Springs aims to give students the fundamental movement skills necessary to participate successfully in a variety of sports while promoting positive attitudes to health and an active lifestyle.
