The Performing Arts Program at Meadow Springs Primary School encourages students to be positive participants in performance activities and improve their understanding of the creative process. Students were engaged in activities that develop creative skills and allow them to become critical thinkers who can view and discuss the arts with thoughtful judgment.
The vibrant program offers students’ performance opportunities as soloists, in small group ensembles and large performance teams. We perform at the annual Wakakirri Story Dance Festival in Perth and in the West Australian Government Schools Music Society concert at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. Talent Quests and Big Sings are also part of the yearly activities.
Classroom lessons have had involved students in singing, learning to read and write music, playing classroom instruments and appreciation of classics and contemporary music styles. Students extended their interest in music through extra-curricular activities such as the Senior and Junior Choirs and instrumental lessons through the Instrumental Music Schools program on clarinet, brass and guitar.
Drama and dance activities were also pursued during lessons and students get the opportunity to use these skills in performance activities such as the Nursey Rhyme Concert, talent shows and concerts in our local community. The choirs, instrumental students and selected classes provided performance items at The RAFFA village for their Christmas Lunch and sang Christmas Carols and songs at Mandurah Centro Forum and Halls Head Shopping Centre
