Positive Behaviour Support

Meadow Springs Primary School follows the Positive Behaviour Support Model (PBS). Positive Behaviour Support is a Western Australian Education Department endorsed program aimed at promoting and supporting positive behaviour choices in schools. The Meadow Springs Primary School staff firmly believe that students are not born with bad behaviour traits; rather that they do not possess the knowledge and skills to make positive behaviour choices within a school setting. Staff, students and their families have taken a proactive approach to behaviour management through the development of 3 clear behaviour expectations; Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Resilient. A matrix (see below) has been developed that breaks down each expectation into key skills that students are taught explicitly. Each fortnight we focus on one behaviour from the matrix. This behaviour expectation is displayed in classrooms, taught explicitly at the beginning of each fortnight within each classroom during a 10-minute lessons, with activities then displayed in the classroom.
